NYC Businessman Claims Lap Dance Injury
A New York businessman claims in a lawsuit that he was injured when a stripper giving him a lap dance swivelled and smacked him in the face with the heel of her shoe.

Aussie Arrested For Growing Pot After Reporting Stolen Plants
An Australian man's complaint of a break-in at his home went to pot today when police arrested him for growing marijuana. South Australia police said the 35-year-old man in the central Australian city of Adelaide called police to report that six men had broken into his house and stolen parts of his cannabis plants.

Driver Blames Speeding On Bad Oreo Dunk
Police say a man's excuse for speeding through a small Connecticut town takes the cake - or, at least, the cookie. A state trooper who stopped the 1993 BMW last fall says its driver blamed his driving problems on an errant Oreo. The driver told the trooper that an Oreo had just slipped from his fingers as he dunked it in a cup of milk, and that he was trying to fish it out when he lost control of his car.

Fake Coach Scamming McDonald's
Police in three western Pennsylvania towns are looking for a man who pretends to be a basketball coach and scams McDonald's restaurants out of food and money using bad cheques.

Ill. Man Nabbed In Stolen Doughnut Van
A bevy of officers chased a stolen doughnut delivery van at speeds up to 100 mph before arresting the driver at gunpoint. They were rewarded for their efforts -- the doughnut shop gave them the purloined goodies.

Japan Appoints Cartoon Cat To Gov't Post
Japan has created an unusual government post to promote animation, and named a perfect figure to the position: a popular cartoon robot cat named Doraemon. Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura appointed the cat as "anime ambassador" at an inauguration ceremony.

Ireland Calls For Alcohol Restraint On St. Patrick's Day
Ireland's leaders urged the country last week to honour its "most famous immigrant" - and avoid drinking too much alcohol - as an estimated half a million revellers lined the sunny streets of Dublin for St. Patrick's Day.

Lloyd's Of London Insures Winemaker's Sense Of Smell
His schnoz is not to be sniffed at. A Lloyd's of London syndicate says it is insuring the nose of winemaker Ilja Gort for $8 million. The Dutch winemaker and taster took out the policy after hearing about a man who lost his sense of smell in a car accident.
